Hok Skis from altai - useable as both ski and snowshoes?

I am still on the pursuit to find the perfect a working solution for my winter outdoor tours in the forest and mountains.
I find snowshoes work all right on deep, light snow, they work quite well on steep ascent, but on icier parts and on the descent, they can really slow you down. Meaning, as long as there is not deep snow, good crampons might work just as well.

Then, I'd love some way of sliding down steep hills.
Carrying extra skis, poles, and ski boots is not an option - too much weight, too much volume.

I am still looking for some form of mini skis - like solid short skis (for me, under 100cm) sturdy enough but also soft enough, with some type of binding that would either make it possible to use comfortable skiing boots (which I have) or preferably regular mountaineering boots.

Altai skis - I hadn't heard of them.
Today I was looking for good crampons, not for climbing and glacier touring, but just for when I want to ascent those snowy/icy steep hills around here. Like yesterday.

I came over an article by Andrew Skurka, about early-season backpacking, and he basically describes the challenges I face around here in the winter.

Anyway, the altai skis deserve further investigation from my side!

I know I will, I'm always glad to find out I am not the only one looking for a more suitable solution for my steep winter outdoor endeavours 😄
